`65 4x4 convert?

You need to find a 4x4 running gear and put your body on it. You might do a search as we have discussed this recently. Any other approach will be very labor intensive. You should be able to make any 79 or older chassis work but the 73 and newer have a 2 inch longer wheel base so you end up with a larger gap between the bed and cab or what seems more common is the rear wheels don't quite center in the wheel well. I would reccomend finding a chassis with power steerring and disc brakes.

As for the two inch gap, I have an idea. A rollbar! When I made my flatbed for my 1971, I left three inches between the cab and bed so I could add a 2" rollbar later that could be attached directly to the frame. It would make the gap less awkward. Just a thought.
