I've been working on rewiring my 66 F100 with three on the tree. Been having trouble, but finally realized I was needing to wire the Purple Solenoid wire to the neutral safety switch. Problem now is trying to figure out how to get to the Neutral Safety Switch in the steering column? Any tricks to help me get to it?
For a manual transmission, you do not have a neutral safety switch.
Your AAW harness kit is designed like this:
Purple wire 5 "Neutral Safety Switch" is Hot when the ignition is turned to START. It can be wired to the NSS, and then the NSS will only allow START to pass through if in Neutral or Park.
Purple wire 6 "Starter Solenoid" is included in the harness to run from the other side of the NSS out to the starter solenoid.
If you have a manual transmission w/o a NSS, then you will wire purple wire 5 "Neutral Safety Switch" directly out to the starter solenoid. When you turn the ignition to START, the solenoid will engage.
You can remove purple wire 6 "Starter Solenoid" from the harness, or wrap it up.
