I have a 56 ford f-600 strait truck which I want to take the body off the old truck frame and move it on to a newer frame. I just dont know what kind a vehicle i should try to find. I have heard a s-10 frame may work but I would like to keep it ford. I would like anykind of input. Thanks
Since it's an F-600 and you are considering an S-10 frame, then apparently your plan is to downsize the truck. I'm doing something similar but on a smaller scale in changing my F-3 to an F-1. I think you would be better off locating an original F-100 or F250 frame depending on what size truck you want to build and start from there. The cab should be a bolt on and then you can go the Volare, Mustang II, Camaro, or whatever subframe route from there. There is someone reproducing F-100 frames with all the hard work already done, but I'm having a bad case of CRS right now and can't remember who the manufacturer is.
Thanks for the reply I am dont know what I really want for frame I was hoping for some suggestions on vehicles that I coulf use the frame on. I think I can locate a orginal frame but was wondering if a full frame swap witha newer frame was possible. Again any suggestion welcome
Scroll back a week or two and look for a thread started by Major Dad. Anything is possible but frame swaps are tough unless you are a master fabber. The S10 and Ranger have a track width that is narrower. The Ranger for example has a 57 inch trackwidth, three inches narrower than an F100. That's not a minor problem up front. The S-10 and Ranger did not come with a V-8. By the time you address all the issues, you will wish you modded a stock F100 frame. At least the body fits perfectly. That alone is no small advantage.
Keep in mind that your F600 has large wheel openings and may look goofy with 15" or so wheels.
If you are going to use "small" wheels, you may have to locate a couple of F100 fenders.
