Hello Gentlemen, I have a 94 f150 5.0 extended cab 2wd. My question is can I use a front sway bar from a f350 ? Mine on my 94 is missing and I can't find one in the wrecking yard for that year model truck. My son has a 92 f350 I checked it out it seems to fit right up but I'm concerned about the thickness or diameter of the bar. And if I could use it would it make any difference if the rear sway bar is for a f150 smaller in diameter. I can't use the rear sway bar the bracket is made for the f350 differential which is thicker in diameter. Any help greatly appreciated.
It might mount up in all the right places, but I would *suspect* that the sway bar out of an F350 is going to be far too beefy for the weight of an F150.
On the trucks I've seen it looks like they are shaped differently. The F150 and Bronco sway bars mount to the back of the little skid plate looking crossmember in front of the steering linkage. The heavier duty trucks have it mounted to the frame. The 3/4 or 1 ton one may fit on the half ton trucks if that crossmember is removed.
Yeah, that's what I concerned about the thickness of the bar. Also on my truck and almost all the 92-96 f150s in the wrecking yard the cross member is bent or warped so I would have to bolt it to the frame. But what could the cross member to warp or bend. Any help greatly appreciated.
What causes damage to those plates is ppl running into stuff with them, so basically using them for what they were designed to do (protect the steering linkages).
The swaybar thing, if you got lots of body roll right now go ahead and drop the F350 on in there, ppl used to do this with full-size cars a while ago (replacing small front bars with big police car ones) and I think the results were quite positive. Try it, if you don't like it you can always take it off. Might wanna consider installing a rear bar too if you ain't got one right now, but use a F150 one there, the F350 tends to be pretty fat and may be a bit too much for your truck.
Yeah I may try the larger f350 cause like I stated I can't find one nowhere, and all the cross members are bent like mine and I would have to get another cross member also. As far as the rear I've seen quite a few in the wrecking yard. Thanks
I just figured people probably put a jack under mine.. never thought about hitting things. Although Im not sure what it would have been unless snow banks count lol.
