Took another good hit on the windshield this past week on my travels and the crack took off running towards the driverside. Also, somehow I got a chip in the lower bottom corner of the front driver window.
Found a Safelite autoglass on my route. They had an oem front windshield with the clear triangle area in the top middle area for the camera or sensor. The side window wasn't oem but could not see any difference compared to the other window other than the name on it, just need to get it tinted to match the other window.
What I didn't know is after the windshield is replaced the advanced safety system needed to be recalibrated. Which they hooked up their computer to the vehicles computer port and took it out for about 10 minutes so it could see the road lines and other vehicles or atleast that's what I was told.
Here is the breakdown for cost for those interested.
I had Safelite replace my windshield on my 20 Aviator, said it was OEM, it in fact was not! the heads up display was blurry and distorted. When I complained to my Ins co. Who is tied to Safelite they assured me that it was OEM glass. I the went to the local Lincoln dealer and was proven that it was aftermarket trash.
Moral of the story ??? Safelite will never get any of my money again
Yep, looks like they did you right on this one, The Lincoln emblem on the so called OEM glass looked like a DIY glass etch project. I wish I had photos to back it up however that car is being enjoyed by someone else now.
Next time you get a windshield replaced and they try to charge you for calibration, give them the middle finger. As long as they don't connect anything to your OBD port, the recalibration shouldn't be necessary. Also, the Ford dealer charged a lot less for calibration. I had Ford recalibrate because I didn't like how Safelite's calibration set the truck up in the lane.

After doing some researching it seems to pass on the recalibration and see if it's needed afterwards then go get it done if needed.
My '21' truck doesn't have the lane assist stuff just the pre collision assist so if I need another windshield down the road that's what I'll do.
