I’ll check the service brakes all around after the towing episode and I’d like to fix the park brake which barely grabs with the pedal to the floor. Does this video describe the ‘07 E350 rear brakes closely enough or is it not even close?
That video does a good job showing how parts become encrusted with rust due a poor previous installation and lack of maintenance over time produces. Lubricating the parts exposed to the weather tends to reduce that just as does occasional inspection help avoid any developing problems.
I would replace the rubber boots he mentions---the ones the lever fit through somewhat sealing the inside of the hub. At the least lubricate them with silicione grease to keep them pliable
I'd also use a brake shoe caliper to fit the shoes inside the hub but that's optional really--just a nice tool to have but not that essential these days of disc brakes.
Do be advised the pull cables can and do corrode/rust so they no longer work to pull and release the shoes. This is often overlooked, each should be inspected to assure they pull and release relative to the foot pedal. If they are frozen its possible to use a penetrating fluid like Kroil at the ends hoping it frees them up so they work properly, These cables have been known to cause problems with no releasing the shoes which can be problematic.
The video is good but do know its for an F-Series so the E-Series might be different but they will be close enough that this video will be helpful.
