swing case bed storage; worth spending more?

there are plenty of these on the market in the ~$100 pricepoint with mostly decent reviews, most of the negative ones regarding the mounting hardware or when being heavily loaded (which isn't my plan);

is it worth spending double on the UnderCover and OEM Ford units?

i'm generally in the "buy once, cry once" camp and totally get the "get what you pay for" thought process, but given the basic function and duty of these i'm having a hard time justifying.

I like the idea of the swinging toolboxes, but not the reality. If you aren't going to carry much and they are going to be under a lockable hard bed cover then they might work for you.

The boxes are plastic and they are not very secure, anyone could break into one with minimal effort. I wouldn't keep anything in them that you would want to lose.

As far as quality, they all look very similar. The hinge would be the part that I would give the most scrutiny to.

yes to both; under a folding hard cover, only carrying jumper cables, some trailer wheel bearing spare parts, and stuff to wipe the boat down.

Sounds like the perfect use then. I used to work in the truck aftermarket years ago. I would suggest at least going to a local truck accessory store and looking at them in person. If the price is close and they provide good service, buy from them.

The Ford branded box is going to be identical to one of the aftermarket boxes, probably a DeeZee or the Undercover. So compare them and then decide. I did a quick search and was surprised how few there are on the market, but tradesmen don't use these as they would break pretty quick.

Edit,

So looking at them, the Ford is just a rebradned Undercover Swing Case. The DeeZee doesn't swing. There some oddball swinging cases on Amazon, but there is really no way to compare them to anything else. Looks like Undercover has two designs, maybe one is updated? Anyway, there seems to be only one choice in the swinging toolbox market unless you want to order something different and chance it.

Another option would be to get a system like this which would allow you more flexibility by storing things in bags and molle mounting them.

this is basically my shortlist. given my non-commercial use, i'm strongly considering the amazon/eBay option, hence my original post.
