Talking 351 cam in 302? Help.

I need to change the fireing order to the 351 firing order because I am going to use a 84 Mustang GT 302 HO intake on my 86 Bronco 302 engine. Apparently the 84 Mustang GT uses a 351 firing order on the 302 HO and the intake is designed for that fireing order. Could I just swap in a 351w cam and change the plug wires around? Or is the cranks order differnt too?
Why did Ford change the fireing order?

Thanks,
Clayton

All you need to change is the cam. Cranks are the same.

Is it fuel injected? I'm confused. If all you are changing is the intake, why would you have to change the firing order. If you replace the cam, it's a definite. But if all you will change on it is the intake manifold, I can't understand why the firing order would need to be changed.

The reason you would need to change the fireing order to match the 84 HO 302 is that this intake is a dual plane intake which is dependant upon the correct fireing order. A single plane intake would not matter. The engine would run Ok if the fireing order was wrong but it would perform poorly.

I run a dual plane manifold on my 351. Are they different for the firing orders? If so, I never knew that. Weird.

In any case, if you do have to switch to the 351 firing order, all that is needed, as posted earlier, is the different cam, and to wire your plugs to the 351 firing order.
