Mouse climbed up into Power Distribution Box on my 2012 5.0 F150 and used it as a silo for millett bird seed. Not sure how many trips it took. Note inside the blue circle and see the chewed up wire. Not a good time for the AC compressor to not engage. Need some thoughts how to get at this wire or otherwise repair it. Part of me thinks the upper part holding the fuses can be popped out, to give access to the wires/terminals under the fuses. Anybody seen this before?
Very common problem. I have probably repaired wiring in the PDB on F150 dozens of times. I am retired now since last year so I have to just try to remember off the top of my head but the PDB is mounted to a bracket that has 4 bolts holding the bracket. The PDB is clipped to the bracket with 4 retainers built into the box. Typically you disconnect the main leads at the battery to get slack in the cables, unbolt that bracket and disengage the clips on the PDB to move the bracket out of the way. Roll the PDB over and unlatch the retainers around the PDB lower half to separate it from the main box and that gives you access to the wiring in the box. I usually got spare wires and spliced them in to lengthen the damaged wires, solder each end and use shrink tubing over the solder joints. After completing the repairs retest all circuits and then put some fox urine on cotton ***** in baggies around the engine compartment to keep the field mice away.
