I bought a low mileage 2012 FX4 with the 5.0L about 18 months ago. It had a little under 77K on it when I got it. Currently closing in on 90K. The MPG is only about 12.9 right now according to the computer display. It was only slightly higher in the first 17 months in the 13's. Is that normal MPG for this truck? Just starting research on the new F150 3.5 Hybrid. If it really gets 10MPG more I might be able to justify it.
Change the plugs, air filter, air up the tires, and disconnect the battery for no less than 15 mins to reset the KAM. That'll put the truck back into learning mode and will adjust to your driving nuances as opposed to the previous owners.

Thanks for the ideas. All of those have been done except for the plugs.
Best case scenario, what type of mileage should I expect or is possible. I drive pretty conservatively most of the time with a mix of interstate/city. Though most of my drives are short so I think that might be part of the issue.
I was getting 22mpg hwy when I got my 13 new, 19 around town or something close to that. I was able to bump that even higher with a custom tune from 5* tuning and was able to achieve 25 mpg hwy. All flat land near sea level.
If the tires have been changed from oem in size, that can make a huge difference in mpg as I found out when I lifted my truck 4" and put 35's on it. I don't give a rats *** about fuel economy, it's a truck. So I got another more aggressive custom tune from MPT and now run E 85 exclusively. Fun as hell to drive but 9mpg is about the best I get around town.
I'll get my mpg back when I buy an electric truck.
My '14, 5.0, 4wd, SCrew @ 180K, gets about 13 in town and about 19-22 highway. Unmodified. According to the trip computer.
I do keep the bed about 1/4 full with stuff.
I didn't use to care so much about the truck MPG but with gas prices and the fact that it seems to have taken a 1MPG drop out of nowhere makes me more interested. I mean the truck is my daily though that duty gets shares during good weather with a 19 Mustang. The truck is also used to tow said Mustang to the track. When towing I had been getting right around 10MPG flat. Acceptable I figured. Just not happy to see this truck drop almost to what my old F250 V10 was getting.
