Battery location

I am installing my carpet in my 53 f100. What do do do to allow easy access to the battery? I have contemplated moving it to under the hood. If I leave it under the floor I am going to put something under the hood to use for jump starting

mine is mounted to the passenger side frame rail just behind the front running board mount... it's out of the way but cumbersome to get to to maintain, but so is under the carpet. I didn't want it showing in the engine room. I have jump start terminals attached to the front cab mount that are easy to access..

Arial101 what I did was have the fellow that did the upholstery cut a flap where the battery lid goes and hem it. I have to take the door plate off to get to it but I have done it and it is no problem. I will try to get photos for you. I like it since I can leave the battery in stock place. Looks good and works. He could have hemmed it a bit longer but it is fine. What John is also good putting in a jumps start block in the engine bay.
