Well I know thats not true because i have the build sheet for my 87' with a 302 (5.0) and it list them as part of the handleing packge, so i know it has nothing to do with the 351. DW
Originally posted by bronco351 Well, to have the dual front shocks you either need to have the Heavy Duty package or the Tow package. Here is what they consist of.
Heavy Duty Package:
Tranny cooler
Oil Cooler
Front and rear sway bars
Limited Slip in front and rear axles
3-row radiator
Dual Front shocks
Tow Package:
Tranny Cooler
Oil Cooler
Front and rear sway bars
3-row radiator
Dual Fornt Shocks
Class 3 Tow Hitch W/trailer light hookup
i have only bits and pieces, i have sway bars, duel shocks, trailer light hookup, but no hitch, i know that the radiator isnt the stock one, and it doesn't have the tranny cooler- it most likely went with the old radiator and has a cooler, in front of the crossmember, but is hooked up to the power steering pump(?)and how can i tell from the vin or door plate whether or not ive got the posi's?- I always thought that the duels were just an option of there own!
Tee Hee,
I know for a fact one of my 79s came new with:
Duel (quad, sorry had too 'cause sounds like this war will never end) front shocks
Sway bars
No hitch (car like bumber)
No trailer light hook up
No Aux tranny cooler
No 302cid
One of my 79s has single mount shocks. Don't know what it had new, does not look to ever have quads. or sway bars. DW you are starting to scare me
'96 has:
Tow package as described earlier or handing pkg

Well sometimes i scare myself all i know is that what the paper work say about mine, it just has quad shocks, front and rear sway bars, thats it but its a 302 and its the original motor. DW
yeah, i have the tow package, and same here, no hitch...i can attest to the fact that the bumper serves a pretty good classIII at the least. Towing 8000lbs with a bronco across state on more than one occasion. Truck was bought new, i was there at the dealer, and has everything else, including the window sticker saying "trailer tow package." 7pin trailer wiring and all...so was the bumper considered a class III hitch afterall?
I can vouch for the bumper, I have done many tug-a-wars using my bumper. I pulled a 97 2500 4x4 chibbie across a culdasack and up a into a parking lot up hill with my stock bumper. He had 4:10s with 31s by the way.
I was using my 83 at the time.
I still tried to get him to hook up to my 82, he refused.
The bumper was part of the tow package. My owners manual rates it at 4000 pounds but requires a weight distributing hitch and trailer brakes over 2000 pounds. Just how the hell you are supposed to use a weight distributing hitch with a bumper ball mount is beyond me!!
The rig did come with the 7 pin wiring etc., and tranny cooler.
