It's been HOT here in the south, 95 degrees, around 60% humidity giving a heat index of 104. On a longer drive yesterday, my cab did not get cool. Using a thermometer in the center air vent, the air coming out was between 66-70 degrees as the compressor cycled. Used Forscan, no codes present, and a gauge on the low side showed a running pressure of 42 psi. The A/C on this truck has not been touched since the truck was built. I then took the wife's Fusion out for a drive, and the air temp coming from the vents was 51-53 degrees, as it should be.
Driving today, the air started coming out cold, (55 degrees) but then warmed up to the upper 60's as I continued to drive. Going to the dealer on Friday to finally use my extended warranty, and I would like to go in there with a little knowledge on what could be wrong. I don't want them to go for a drive around the block, and say it feels fine to them.
Check the evap core temp in Forscan. My sensor went bad and would read abnormally low, so although the compressor would cycle on and off, the cycles were very short as the temp sensor would think it was frozen up as soon as the temp on the evap core would go down. I'd check it and watch it as it runs and see if it does anything that looks weird.
Just FYI, I looked up your low side pressure in the manual, it's right on the money. Range for 95 ambient is 32-50 PSI.
