Hi All,
It's been a while since I posted. I have a 73 F100 2wd long bed. She has a lot of problems but for today I'm trying to fix her seeming to be over assisted on the power steering. Slightest turn of the wheel and the PS moves the wheels. There is no sensitivity at all no road feedback. The PO (Bought the truck in Feb.) had, had the PS pump and steering box replaced if that helps. I've had lots of Fords in my time and most are pretty good when it comes to steering feel.
Also what size is the stock sway bar up front and rear (needing to replace the shocks front and rear and Axle Pivot Bushing's), should I do the Radius Arm Bushing Set while I'm at it?
Most all power steering was that way in those days. and why not, they handled like pigs on the road anyway it isn't like Mario Andretti was buying them. it's just part of what makes them fun, old school.

LOL I attempted to ride pigs occasionly on neighbors farm in my younger days and nope, they didn't handle too well at all.

I've had a few F series truck's and a crap-load of other 60 to early 70's Ford cars and only my old 67 Mustang had steering so OVERLY assisted. Agree with ya on handling not being the best (or average even) but for that time period they were middle of the road handling wise
just curious when the last time the alignment was checked? are all the suspension parts in good shape (especially tie rod ends)?
Took it to the shop yesterday, they found the Axle Pivot Bushing's need to be replaced, the shocks are shot and she bounces like a girl in a porno. I have those on order. Any other parts you can think of that can cause this?
King-pins, radius arm bushings, front wheel bearings and possibly tie-rods, and yes, I would do it all if your going to do one... also, over-camber can cause squirrely steering, was experimenting with new springs on my 66 F250 2wd, manual steering, but still the same effect.
I didn't know you could get front and rear sway bars on a 73 F100. Standard on a SCS F350 though. Steering light but should have feel. If PO replaced box and pump who knows about the parts sourcing. May be time for a red or blue top box and ask what pump rebuilder they recommend.
