Hi,
needed to change the rear parking brake cables on my 1992 E350 motorhome. Replacement parts have identical length as the old ones. But somehow they are still too short. I am missing about 7-10 cm for the connection to the front cable. If I pull them hard to connect them to the front, the rear brake is blocked completely. So I wonder if the park brake pedal has some kind of slack adjuster in it? Maybe some kind of spring spiral that rolled up and took away the now missing centimeters?
Thanks for your hints in advance, before I pull apart the pedal.
There is an adjuster in the pedal I think in the 92+ trucks, I don't know if it applies to the vans as well. Ford had issues with the adjuster, and issued a plastic locking piece that is inserted after the pedal has been adjusted. You need to remove that piece before it will loosen up. Then you can just magically pull the cable to get the extra you use.
Its a crap system, I can't get it adjusted right on my truck since I replaced the cable.
