I recently bought a used 94 B4000 4x4 with 108,000 miles. Two things going on that I'd like to fix. First is slight pinging when accelerating hard or going up hills. When this happens, the check engine light will also come on. I've looked at some of the discussion and it looks like I should try the MAF sensor and perhaps clean the throttle body. I've already done plugs, wires, air & fuel filters.
How hard a job is the throttle body cleaning? What's a good cleaner?
Any tips on the MAF? Looks like it requires a special Torx driver.
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated on the pinging.
Second issue is the speedometer. At around 60 mph its hodling steady, then as I speed up further it jumps dramatically to 65 - 70 mph and dances around. Any tips?
