I have had an issue with my truck it’s a 2017 with 30,000 miles on it. Obviously you can tell it’s not driven very often. I have s&b intake on it and the banks pedal monster and derringer. So the issue seems like it only happens before it’s warmed up. Under normal driving conditions like just pulling out of a street to merge into traffic I will peg the boost gauge and when it happens I let off right away and it will make the turbo fart noise like the 6.0’s used to make. I already replaced the map sensor and it didn’t help. I don’t know if it’s a wastegate issue or the veins in the turbo. It only will happen like 2-3 times while first driving then everything will be normal. No codes or check engine lights. Boost gauge on the dash is showing pinned the banks gauge is showing 30-35 psi
Yes, could be sticking turbo vanes, but really should be throwing a code.
I'd find someplace that has a dealer level scan tool that can see live data to monitor what is going on, or get to a dealer and get them to hook up the IDS and check it.
You'd have to leave it so it can be checked cold, since you say that is the only time it happens.
