I’ve got a 1977 F-250 460 c6, that I’ve been restoring over the last couple months. Finally started driving it- each time it was sunny with no rain in sight. I never thought to check the windshield wipers, yesterday it was raining- wipers didn’t work. Bought a new switch- replaced it- still nothing. However, with the new switch, when you push in it will release wiper fluid but the wipers don’t move, and when you turn the **** for the wipers to come on- you can hear a ticking noise that sounds like it’s coming from either the switch itself or a relay somewhere. This truck sat since 2012 and I bought it this passed December. Not sure if it’s the wiper motor or the relay. Pulled the fuse out and it’s good too. Thoughts??
You might run an additional ground wire from the case of the blower motor to a ground point in the cab. A lot of times, when the motor does not operate, the reason is a loss of ground.
FYI these old trucks w/s wipers are NOT like new cars that auto swipe when you push the button in to squirt fluid. That is all it is suppose to do, is squirt fluid. Did you get the correct w/s wiper switch? There are 2 different ones, one for conventional wipers and one for interval (delay) wipers.
