Forgive me if this has been done. But I received my keys in the mail today and wanted to show real quickly that it isn't very hard.
The keys are $36 for the pair, the first thing I did was program the key fobs and tested them a bunch to make sure they work.
Once that was done I removed the tumbler by turning the key to the ON position and inserting a small screwdriver into the release pin underneath the steering column. Obviously the bat wings need to be trimmed The old key sits down into the bat cave We definitely have a problem here I taped the key edges to not get sharpie all over it and setup my fancy template maker And that's all you need. It doesn't need to be perfect as you won't go all the way to the lines. You just need to general shape. Ready to Dremel Be sure to tape inside, you don't want to fill the tumbler with plastic shavings. After some sanding you should be left with this.
That's it, I was going to cut the key via Dremel, but.... I figured I'd bring it to the hardware store and pay the $6 each
now that's pretty cool. one less thing to carry in your pocket. re the keys OEM? range good?

These are just some cheap OEM replacements off Amazon f$36 for the pair (OEM are $100 each and I wasn't sure if would work). But, you could get real OEM ones. I believe any of these would work CWTWB1U793, 5912560, 164-R8070. It's just the newer style 80 bit key. The range on the ones I got isn't great probably 50 feet, but they have the garbage batteries they ship with and in the past I've found even the cheap remotes get a bit better with good batteries. Either way I still think it's worth it to have one less thing to carry around.
