Truck mso missing

Anyone ever had an issue getting a new truck tag because the mso is missing? I was told by dealership i bought my truck from they are waiting for it from ford. Ive had my truck 90 days and still no tag. Im on my 3rd 30 day extension from tag office. Basically my title is missing. Lean holder doesnt even have a copy. I’ve contacted ford and waiting to hear back on their end too. Beyond ridiculous.

WOW. The dealership should have gotten the Manufacture Certificate of Origin when the truck was delivered to the dealership. The Dealership signs it in order the facilitate the transfer of ownership to your lender, then finance person should have submitted to the lender. I was given the signed Certificate of Origin by my salesperson when I signed all the sales documentation. It was then my responsibility to present the Cert to my State's DMV. (I was an out of State buyer) Several weeks later I received the new DMV Title for my truck. Almost sounds like the dealership lost or misplaced the certificate and possibly stalling while the submit the appropriate documentation to Ford to have a new Certificate issued. Just to clarify, the way things were explained to me is that the Manufacturer Statement of Origin (MSO) and Manufacture Certificate of Origin MCO are pretty much the same thing.

Heck, should just be a couple of button clicks on a computer for Ford to print it out.
I'd call Ford customer service and raise a stink over it.

When ever we have had to request a new MSO from Ford it usually only takes 7-10 days to receive.

I am going through a similar situation with a different brand car. The selling dealer said they use a third-party processor and it can take a long time. Maybe your seller does the same? Either way, it sure is a PITA.

I'm no lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but I would question whether you are the legal owner of the vehicle if a Certificate Of Origin For A Motor Vehicle was not furnished to you at the time of settlement. There was some kind of issue with our original certificate, don't remember what it was, but the dealer had a new one from Ford in a matter of days. The one we received clearly states that it's a duplicate certificate, original was mutilated. I took a photo of it, and have it stored. Again, I question whether a dealer can legally transfer ownership and take your money without that certificate. My two cents, based on personal experience.

i have verified with bank. I was told today it was either lost or paperwork was filled out in correctly more than once. One issue is people with ford are still working from home I verified that with a rep from ford. No one sees anyone face to face anymore gotta wait on emails and phone calls. I also got confirmation from my local ga tag office that the truck is in my name. My address pulls up the truck but license does not. Another issue with finance dept/tag title office. State is involved/ working with my tag office, supposedly im top priority.

What a PITA. Keep up on your due diligence, save all communication documents- emails, texts and so on. That fact your local DMV office has verified your name does appear is a big plus. It's an official government agency that is showing you as the registered owner. However, who ever, if someone has the Original MCO, could try to register your truck, maybe in another State. Ya may want to get a printout of what the local DMV office has and ensure your name is associated with your truck's VIN Number.

My experience- I bought my truck (cash deal) in another State and they did not have a reciprocal with Oregon for registration. Oregon DMV was only doing mail in registration. The State DMV was saying there was a 8 to 12 week processing delay, COVID was just getting bad. So I made copies of all my documents related to registration and put them in a small binder that I kept in the truck just in case I was stopped by a LEA Officer. (It took almost 3 months to get my truck registered) During the wait I was rear ended while stopped at a red light by some idiot stuffing his face. Very minor damage, but the guy claimed there was no damage. LEA got involved and I presented my binder of documents. The Officer did not have any issues with my truck ownership status. At that time my truck did not exist in any DMV Data base, the VIN just came up as "Not on File- No Record of the VIN".

The only other suggestion I would make, would be to see it your local DMV will run your VIN periodically in what's called an "NCIC" check just to be sure no one has tried to register your truck in another State. A little side note; I really wanted to do an in person registration so I could try to pass off a scanned color copy of my MCO so I could keep the original MCO. I figured I'd likely never be doing a full cash purchase of a vehicle again, so to me the MCO is somewhat of a rare document.
