Tires

I just bought some 15x8 Hurricane Rims from a friend and was wondering what tire I should put on it? I was thinking 31x10.50x15. I do some hunting and fishing so I want something toget me through the mud and water. I saw some Super Swamper LTB for about $97 a piece. The problem is I don't know how long the tread will last, I ride the roads from school to work just about everyday. So what do you suggest? Oh, it's a 2 wheel drive if you needed to know.

well in my past experiences if you drive an offroad (m/t) tire on the road, it will wear the tread down a lot faster than say, an all terrain tire. if u do a fair amount of road time, id suggest the bridgestone dueler a/t, for $100 apiece at tirerack. great treadwear and grip on or offroad. shoot, just go to tirerack.com and type in 31x10.5x15 and about 40 tires will come up, you can read the reviews and look at prices for each one, and they have the recommended rim size for the different size tires.

Sounds like a cool setup Clay. But you have a snag or two to clear first.

#1 - The on road tread life will be bretty darned bad. Here is what Interco says about the tire. notice "street" is not mentioned:

"A Super Swamper with a little more length on the largest lug of the Three Stage Lug design. It is in bias ply construction which made it possible to get the extra offset which gives the tire superb traction. The tire is exceptionally tough and designed for hard off road use. The Super Swamper LTB is available in seven popular sizes and at good prices."

And it they ride like tank treads on the road, too.

#2 - Interco does not make that tire in 31x10.50x15. They make in in a 31x11.50-15LT which I feel is just a little toooo wide without either raising the truck, adjusting the fenders, or tearing up your tires.
