Rims and tires for F100 from 1968

Hi,

I have a question

I have thought about putting 15x7 "rims with 205/75x15 tires on the front and 15x10 rims with 275/60x15 tires in the rear.

But is there any of you who know if there is space for 15x10 rims in the rear on a F100 (which is totally original)?

BR, Rene

I have 15x10 rims with a 4" backspacing in the rear with 275/65 tires (I think), which gives me a total width of 11 1/2".

This is on my '69 that is lowered 4" in the rear, so theoretically I'd have more space issues than your stock setup. No issues for me other than to remove the rears, I have to put the frame on stands so that the axle can drop.

Anyway, I highly suggest the wide rears. It looks so... muscle. It just looks great. Do it. I also have 15x8 rims up front. I really like that too.

I have 15x8 all around. My 11.50" wide all terrain tires in the back come close to rubbing the inner bed walls. I wouldn't want then to be any wider. But it does look cool with big tires! And I have plenty of traction for the most part.

I agree that I wouldn't want to go any wider. There's no more room without tubbing or taking away the inner fender lip.

Not sure. Let's do some math!

I've not measured with the rim separate from the tire, so I can't give an exact measurement, but I'm pretty sure the backspacing is 4 1/8".

With the rim being 10" wide, a 5" backspace would be a zero offset. Since my backspace is somewhere around 4 1/8", I have a -0.875" offset. Offset is measured in millimeters though, so my offset is approximately 22mm.

The -42mm offset of those rims would make them protrude more toward the outside of the vehicle.
