It has been awhile since I have posted anything, but here goes. I own a 65' F100 LB 2WD custom cab Pick up I purchased replacement door panels and armrests from CJ Pony ( they came in Dennis Carpenter packaging) They said that the retaining clips for armrests needed to be ordered separately, which I did. My issue is that it has been quite some time since I disassembled the doors. I see no place for the clips to fit into the door.. There are two screw holes that correspond to where the armrests will mount, but I see no evidence that there has ever been screws inserted into them.. So I am wondering do I have to reach up through the access panel and hold the clips on the inside? So I am appealing to you guys for some advice, as there is a wealth of knowledge represented on FTE.!
Yes, clips mount inside door skin and are held in place once armrest is fastened to it. Also, don't forget that there are wood shims that fill in the gap between the door panel and the door skin
Here's a picture from when I did mine https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post18474470
The clips that carpenter sells are not exactly like the originals. The original clips for the armrest were made from flat bar with machine threads. They were 12-24 thread which is hard to find but rethreading them to 1/4-28 is just a matter of running a tap thru them.
The wood spacers were taped to the door with masking tape at the factory.
Does anyone have a source for the BAAK-8124155A or is that something it is best to fabricate Cropduster do you happen to know dimensions of O/E clips?
Sorry I did not write the dimensions down. I just rethreaded the ones I had. You could call Green sales or Carpenters nos parts and see if they have any. Or use your new arm rest to pickup the angle and make your own. Any chance one of your old ones is still hanging around your shop somewhere?
I have went through all my bins of spare parts, glove box ,ash tray, to no avail. Saturday I went to our only u pull it yard they only have about 5 65' vintage trucks and they are pretty well harvested! I did find a 65 F600 that had a drivers side armrest. I reached up inside the door and it does have the original style retainers , however the screws were rusted solid . Eventually I rounded out the Phillip heads without breaking them loose. I may go back and drill off the heads,so I will have an example to go by.
I know that after I get the armrest on I will find the original hardware!! Thanks for your insight

I gutted a '66 Custom Cab, and a couple of those were very rusty, but I was fortunate that the several turns I got before there was nothing left of the phillips was enough to allow me to get a 3" cutting disc in a die grinder into the gap and cut the screw. After removal, I clamped the piece in the bench vise, and with a little bit of persuasion (VICEGRIPS), managed to get the remainder of the screw out......
I had no clips. Found some sheet metal gauge angle iron, about 3/4". Drilled and tapped to 1/4-20, and after mounting and tightening I added a nut on the protruding threads to keep everything snug.
