Hi y'all, i'm lookin for some information/advice on economy (maybe some performance) upgrades that are not terribly expensive for a 460. However my primary concern is economy upgrades.
Budget: say ...under $1000
Any advice is appreciated.👍

For economy, about all I have been able to do is regular maintenance to make mine more efficient. New distributor cap and rotor. New plugs and wires. Regular fluid changes etc. Tire pressure checks, new fuel filter and the main thing, gas it like there is an egg under the go pedal. Im not sure if it helps but you can cut the horns off the restrictive looking piece in the center of the air tubes. Under that flat piece. Some say you can get better mileage and a little more response. I did it and at first it seemed to work but I honestly don't know if it really did after I did it. I have 4.10 gears and the truck will pull a house but I suffer mileage for the gearing. To expensive for me to change it out for the benefit but that was before the fuel prices. You might look into that. With all I have done and I do give it anything it needs, I still get 10-12 MPG on flat land at sea level. Good luck and I hope your thread gives us some ideas.

FOUR WHEELER Magazine's Project M.P.G.
this is probably one of the best documented 460 article I've ever read. Download the PDF, sit in a comfy chair, and burn through the info.

After reading the article, I found that I failed to mention in my first post that I am running a drop in K&N filter. I also looked up the cost of the DEI Cool tape they used in the article. They said they used 120 feet for their project. I looked it up and 120' cost $180.00. So mine will stay black.
