need some helping installing the accelerator cable. From what I remember, there is a clamp that holds the cable on the bracket that is on the intake manifold. Over time that clamp for the bracket is now lost. I can’t seem to find a clamp style accelerator cable bracket that my truck has. I can only find brackets that don’t seem to be able to work with my style throttle cable.
so basically I’m wondering what do I need to do to get this accelerator cable to work
and if anyone has info on install for the kickdown linkage that would be great to. I think I am missing stuff for that as well.
Kick down is a 1 piece rod and I have it connected to carb and to the trans.
truck is a 65 f100, 390, Mx-com trans, 4 bbl edelbrock carb(unsure what one exactly)
I would say that there is pretty much no way you are going to get the stock kickdown and throttle cable to work with a non-stock carburator and manifold.
You will likely need both the kickdown and throttle cables plus the bracket to attach them to the carb. Automatic Transmission Kickdown and Throttle-Valve Cables | Summit Racing
For the kickdown rod in a stock scenario there are a few related pieces. The carburetors on the Automatic equipped trucks were also set up to support the kickdown rod connecting to the accelerator
C5TZ-7A187-B - ROD - ENGINE MOUNTED ACCELERATOR SHAFT TO TRANSMISSION THROTTLE CONTROL OUTER LEVER - 1/2" diam. rod
C5AZ-7B146-F - SPRING - TRANSMISSION KICKDOWN CONTROL LEVER RETRACTING - 2" free length - 14 1/2 coils
C4SZ-7C484-A - BUSHING - TRANSMISSION KICK DOWN BRACKET TO TRANSMISSION ROD - 7/16" O.D. - 1/4" I.D. - 5/32" wide
353862-S8 (XX10) - Washer "C"
They also included the anti-stall dashpot and related items that help keep the engine from stalling when you let your foot off the accelerator.
With a 4bbl carb, the stock bracket on the manifold will not be long enough, because of the wider carb. You can modify the bracket, or go aftermarket. Crop Duster’s link is the right idea. You want a setup that bolts to the carb base. A site search will help. This issue has come up before.

thanks for the help! I probably should change it. It worked before with set up, I sure wish I remembered how it got put together. Hopefully one day I’ll have the knowledge to know how all this stuff works. It’s impressive the knowledge a lot of people on here have.
I appreciate all your help you have been through this project of mine. I’ve seen you offer lots of help with many questions I’ve had.
I have also lost the small piece before. It might be difficult to duplicate the "hook" on the top, but you can make one from a piece of scrap with a couple bends in it. You want to be able to clamp the cable without crushing it. I did it and it works with a 4V carb, (it's on an angle) but I don't have the auto kickdown.
Some guys have adapted the later (earlier?) rod and bellcrank linkage which is probably more reliable; if you break the '66 cable linkage you'll find there's no easy roadside fix.
You can absolutely use the stock cable and bracket with an aftermarket intake and 4 bbl carb. If you use a spacer under the carb you can get bolts that are an inch longer (for a one inch spacer) and put some kind of pedestal under the bracket. I used a stack of old Chevy rocker arm pivots on mine, I like repurposing old Chevy parts to make my FORD better.
I have been looking for the "clip" you show here for months. Now tru you I have located it on ebay and ordered same. Thank you! for one less frustration! Now I have to find the kickdown ro. d C5TZ-7A187-B. These two are the last two parts to finish my 1966 6 cylinder F-100 mzurko

I just found a large washer. Put it in a vice, pounded a slight curve in it with a ball peen hammer.. bolted it over the cable.. 7 years later still working.
