Ford used 2v 6.8 in the vans and chassis based vehicles until 2016 or 2017 I think. The consensus is they fit as long as you swap oil pan and maybe your accessories. I would go this route over a used one from a correct year. The downside to this is depending on where you get it from, you may or may not get your core charge returned since technically it isn't the same as what is being returned.

Probably won't get a core charge returned anyway due to the big hole in my block . I wonder if I can install the CNG/LPG engine and get to ride HOV for free.

I hope it's parked outside

You definitely are towing anything heavy with a Maverick. And dealers around here are asking 5k OVER msrp <smh>. Sadly, I've already done a ton of repairs/upgrades to mine - just probably needs to upgrade the springs - well and replace the engine. I've just listed it in the marketplace - under duress (wives!). We'll see what happens, meanwhile - I'm conspiring to get a engine stand and hoist - just in case...

math does make it easy, the gas savings over a ten year period going with the maverick will pay for itself. This is assuming hybrid and you dont need to tow. But i would wait to next year for them to work out the bugs for the maverick. Right now they have a current drain leaving them found on road dead and the windows failing in the down positions. Those are the major ones.. They fixed the cat trying to caught itself on fire issue. Little other things but no biggies except for the two above.
