Let' see if I can explain this without confusing myself.
PO has done some creative wiring under the dash.
Panel lamps do not dim with r-stat.on head light switch. but get
bright/dim with dimmer stitch.cool huh?
Also. the headlights blink on and off.
have replaced dimmer switch. have new headlight switch on order
I believe i'm going to need a dash wiring diagram.color codes.
If someone has a way to post one for 67 f100 w/ factory guages
Much thanks. Ron
You're right. Sounds like the PO did some creative wiring. You'll just have to follow some wires until you spot the atypical tap in or wad of electrical tape. If he was a full blown hillbilly engineer, you may even see duct tape and bailing wire:-)
Also look for bad grounds. A bad ground could cause the symptoms you're describing. Make sure that you have good ground straps from the engine to body and body to frame. My truck even has a factory grounding strap from the grille assembly to the frame. Then make sure the individual circuits are all grounded properly. A bad ground can cause a lot of weirdness in a circuit.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't thought of the ground straps.
from what I can tell there are alot of splices under the dash,
it's a little scary lookin under there.
I guess it's like they say in the oilfield,
If it was easy , old ladies would be doing it.
Checked out the wiring today. someone had run a jumper wire to the dashlights and wired the bright light indicator in series with the dashlights.
Just when I thought I was the dumbest person on the planet....
