2015 Diesel 6.7L. Here lately when I put the transmission in reverse, the back up camera screen is malfunctioning. I don't know how to describe it only that the screen has horizontal lines in the camera view and just going up and down on the screen. Most of the time the truck just sits under the carport till I need to go into town maybe once a week. After I get to where I am going, and have done my business I get back in the truck and put it in reverse, The malfunction goes away and the camera view in reverse is back to normal.
We have a bit of the same problem in our 2015 Lincoln MKC.
I am thinking the connections to the camera might need to be looked at. In your case those connections I am thinking of are just under the tailgate by the reciever. Try to disconnect, check for moisture and dirt.
Put them back together with some delectric grease.
That is my plan for the lincoln but a bit more involved as I suspect I have to take the liftgate cover off or maybe to stuff along the side panels.
This sounds strange but it happened to my 2015 powerstroke, when pressing the emergency then releasing it full blast it messed up the backup camera, don’t do that. There’s a connection somewhere in there that messes it, jiggle the emergency brake around and it should fix the problem.
Well seems as I'm not alone in this camera malfunction. It is an intermittent thing. Today I was going to do some trouble shooting. The first thing I did was turn the ignition switch to "ON" and put it in reverse. It didn't malfunction. So will have to try another time. I appreciate the replies.
I just had this problem also. I wiggled and pushed in to make sure they were tight all the connectors above the parking brake and then disconnected the camera harness from the truck harness, blew it out, cleaned it, and put di-electric grease on it and put it back together. Haven't had a problem since, granted, I've only used it a handful of times.
Also, be careful when you re-connect the harness from the backup camera to the truck harness. I used some cleaner on mine and the rubber "o-ring" / gasket on the connector got dry and distorted when I tried to re-connect them. Therefore, when I tried to reconnect the connector it wouldn't snap into place and the camera didn't work at all. A little bit of grease and a small screw driver to put the "o-ring" back into place and everything has been good.
I would like to know how you pull the wire connector off the cameras. Usually there is a tab that has to be depressed to loosen wire connectors. But I can't see any on the connectors. I don't want to yank on it to hard and pull the camera out of the socket. How ever I don't know it that is a bad thing or not. That way I could get a closer look at the connector. Is pulling the camera out of the socket easy enough to do?
Another thing, there is a camera in the Ford Logo on the tail gate. The camera cannot be accessed by taking the tail gate plastic cover off. So how would one get the Ford logo off the tail gate with out destroying it and the paint?

You shouldn't have to do that. The wire comes out of the tail gate and plugs in underneath the truck by the spare tire. There is definitely a tab to depress to disconnect it. I think you may be looking in the wrong place, I'll try and snap a picture of it later.
Yes please a photo would be helpful. I was going to try and do all the camera connections in the bumper. I thought the idea was to inspect and grease each one. It seems to me you are only focusing on the one connector that I guess all the cameras are wired into?
Well, finally got the connector apart and greased that the 4 cameras were wired to. At 76 I'm not as agile and limber as I used to be. At this time I'm not going to tackle the other one from the tail gate. Will see how this works out.
Shoot man I I ended up late to the airport and forgot to snap the pic for you. My apologies but it sounds like you found it. On another note, mind acted up again today so maybe I didn’t fix it. 😡
I will keep an eye on it and keep us posted on if you have anymore issues
Appreciate getting me to a connector that I could take apart. At this time from the replies, I don't think we have definite cure yet. It might be a intermittent connection in the panel display. I hope that isn't the case. I am going to youtube. There a number of post about ford backup camera. I will check it out.
I also just realized what I did previously. I worked on the connector that is going to the motion sensors in the bumper. All this time I thought there were 4 cameras in the bumper, until today a light came on in my brain..... duh! Only one camera in the tail gate. Gads! So I haven't accomplished anything yet. But I did wiggle the gray connector above the parking brake lever. Guess now I should remove the spare tire so I can get at the real camera plug.
I had a problem with my rear camera a few years back and they replaced the camera under warranty. It worked about a month and went bad again. It recently worked a few times but normally does not. So I'm glad this thread came up because I'll have to check that rear connector under the truck also. Great thread...
My 2012 camera does the lines thing on occasion, but that was after I installed an aftermarket head unit. The wiring under the dash is the issue for me, already did the harness inspection at the tailgate. My moms MKS is doing something similar, it either works, or it doesn't no rhyme or reason to it.
