Wheel adapter

So I’m new to this page and I need some help… I have wheel adapters (8x6.5 to 8x170 ford lug pattern) I can’t find the thread pitch or pinch to get correct lug nuts for a aftermarket wheel I’m getting. I have oem lug nuts right due to me running newer than 1999 stock ford rims… if someone can tell me the size to get it would be greatly appreciated!!

Should just need lug nuts for a 99+ SD. A quick Google shows M14x2.0 as the thread size.

see I did that but never found any and I went to rough country and put in 1999 f250 SD and the M14x1.5 fit and it never showed the 2.0

The srw and drw studs have different pitches, fine vs course. That's where the 1.5 and 2.0 come in I believe. I'd swing by a local parts store and ask to try one of each to verify which ones you need.

It's actually model-year dependent, not single vs. dual.

04-up use the fine (m14x1.5) thread studs/nuts.

Besides thread pitch, you also need to know what seat type the wheels require. Most common is probably bulge taper, but if you use the wrong kind you can expect wheel damage, terrible vibration, and/or the wheels falling off while driving. The wheels may also require a centering ring if they're hub-centric instead of lug-centric. And if you're using cheapo Chinese adapters beware that they have been known to break.

Wheel falling off is the worst, luckily when it happened to my friend's F-250 he was going slow so the damage was relatively minor, a couple more blocks and he would have been on the freeway. His wheels needed bulge taper and the nuts were taper. Both have the same taper angle, but bulge taper has more surface area on the taper. No matter how hard he cranked them down, the left wheel would loosen after just a few blocks. Right side wheels rarely fall off because the rotation force tries to tighten the lugs.
