That's pretty much it. But #1, guns are not to blame. They don't blame cars for drunk driving!

It really begs the question, what is this world coming to?

Those of us of a certain age ponder that minimally daily, some perhaps hourly. I know deep down "gun control" isn't the answer and yet the frequency of these incidents has me thinking WHAT is the answer, is there one? It seems some sort of mental malady plays a large part, that most every shooter has shown themselves to pose some sort of threat, that others have seen it and not taken any action only to talk about it after the horrible fact.

I don't have an answer but do sincerely hope someone comes up with one soon.

You just answered it right there, with that well articulated statement.

Most of us realized that the perpetrators are generally young males, often less than a year removed from their own high school days.

I didn't realize this until yesterday, but the last 4 (mass) school shooters where white, black, hispanic, and oriental.

The focus needs to be "what makes these kids behave like this?" instead of a physical profile.

Until they can get a handle on the mental health issues at the core of these events, they need to do away with "gun free zones".

Arm the faculty or hire trained security and/or a permanent police presence at schools.

If the shooter knows they may come against an armed defender, they will think twice about an attack.

Political discussion? How about we show some compassion to the families of the victims? I can't begin to imagine the pain these families are going through, likely to last a lifetime!!! And how about the families of the Sandy Hook victims? I think it's safe to say they haven't gotten over their losses only a decade ago, which this incident is only a repeat all over again! One has to question what the world is coming to, when it seems like certain rights and liberties will continue to take precedence over the value of innocent human lives, over and over again.

It's such a different world now than it was when I grew up. Much more going on & people are just nuts these days. I feel for the families of those kids who will never have a chance now.

TOO MANY innocent lives have been robbed with alarming frequency, making many of us outside of the U.S. wonder how many more it's going to take, before drastic changes are implemented? I would like to believe that most sane people would find it offensive to simply accept this as being the new "normal".

Thanks for participating...my cautionary statement was simply a friendly reminder that FTE prohibits Political Discussion in General Threads...that's reserved for "The Club". Nothing more...nothing less. I personally am sick of hearing of "thoughts and prayers" for the victims. It's time something was done...the madness has to end.

The U.S. Secret Service released a report in March of last year that analyzes many of the plots of violence against schools. It turns out the profile of the perpetrator(s) looks an awful lot like the profile of the people that are the biggest threats to commit violence against the POTUS.

Here's a link to the article's page at the USSS. The report link is below the title.
