Thanks for participating...my cautionary statement was simply a friendly reminder that FTE prohibits Political Discussion in General Threads...that's reserved for "The Club". Nothing more...nothing less.
I understand that there are groups of people are very passionate about their 2A rights, and so be it. They can be passionate all they want and debate 'till they're blue in the face. I refuse to participate in such discussions. My main purpose of being a long time member on this, and many other forums, has been to provide technical assistance wherever and whenever possible as a veteran dealership technician. And I shall continue providing as such. I would like to believe most of us are grown adults who are capable of engaging in respectful, intelligent conversation without the need to resorting to any unpleasant, distasteful and infantile insults to those who happen to disagree with our views.

It strikes a nerve with me, when I hear of innocent people, particularly children who fall victim to the actions of another person. Between the two mass shootings occuring in Buffalo and Ulvade I question what went so wrong in the lives of these individuals in order for it to enter their minds to carry out these very sinister acts that are on a level of evil that there aren't words in my vocabulary to describe? The last of which, he shot his grandmother before going on his rampage! Watching one of the mothers in inconsolable tears makes me well up in tears myself. It just boggles my mind what the actions of ONE can cause!
I have a potential solution, but it's impossible to implement. Nor can I tell if it works until it's implemented. We've used it in the past on a limited basis, but I have no summarized data beyond listening to those stories of the youth who went through the experience; talking about how it changed their lives.
To appreciate what we have in life, most youth need to get another perspective. The senior year of high school, all able students are sent to work / study / help in another part of the world. Full immersion. Learn at least some of another language, culture, lifestyle, food, music, etc. 18 months later they return and finish their HS degree with a hopefully new appreciation of everything they have. For sure, a million issues with this idea. I think it'd be easier/cheaper to send a human to Mars... but then our cycle would keep pedaling along.
