Lift kit

I have an 1988 F350 that i want to lift. I'm thinking of 39.5 inch boggers and would like to know how much lift i would need to fit them with some space in left in wheel well for flex. I was thinking of 6" but i've been reading anywhere from 4 to 9 that i need. If anyone can recomend how much lift and a company. Thanks

since its a solid axle front end it'll be easier to lift. i would say 6-8" suspension lift and maybe a 3" body lift if the 6" lift is used. depends on how u wheel it (mud, trails, rocks, etc...). i perfer skyjacker, their kits seem to be complete and always have every last nut and bolt needed but fabtech is another top notch company. tuff or rough country (cant remember which one, or it might be both) makes a decent line of lifts also. over at the rough country website they have a generic tire fitmet guide, and according to that u'll need a 4" kit and some trimming (mind u the guide only lists a 4" kit as an option) so a 6" kit with a small body lift would be fine or an 8" if they make it.
