I am having a hard time finding any worthwhile used rims/tires for my 1978 Ford F100. Does anyone have the hot tip on sites that are best to find something at? Looking for something a little different than slots or the usual..Like Welds or torque thrust etc.
Attached is a pic of what we have on the truck now. Having a hard time getting them fully polished and just looking for options before I buy some 295/50's for them
If you were nearby, I'd look at taking them off your hands. As it is, take a buffing wheel and a drill and those will polish up to dazzle.
Truthfully, if that's recent picture, they look great now.
Are you looking for steel or alloy?
That is after a good amount of polishing. LOL...They are like the old saying goes "Good from far, but far from good". As much as I polished I am getting the feeling that I cannot get them to where I'd like them to be, but other than that I am just not sure I want 10" wide on front.
Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, Ebay.. FB market is the best source for used parts around here.
Those rims look like American Racing outlaws, they've been around forever, you might be able to find 2 new ones in an 8" width for the front if you want to keep them. Then just polish up the 2 better ones you have...
You might consider some Hurricane's or Turbines. they're period correct and look good on these rigs. they're kind of a pain to restore but I have it figured out now so I'm going to find a set of 18 spokes. 15" ones like you need are on ebay and craigslist quite often.
I ran 295/50-15s on 10" wheels all the way around on a 1973 2wd for years. I loved the way it looked and it allowed me to rotate the tires....spool in the rear, LOTS of nitrous, and a 460...lots of rotations.
Still have the wheels and the pickup AND the pickup is still on 10" wide wheels but they're 16s and have 35s on them...and it is 4x4 now.....with a diesel.

I just put these on today.
I like the turbines personally, my wife not so much

Nice! I wish I could find some used tires to at least see the look on our truck.

Yeah I have thought of that idea, but new outlaws are expensive these days and especially polished.
Marketplace is usually solid around here but not for this for whatever reason. Like I said I could had 5 different sets of Welds, Centerlines, etc if I had a C10 LOL
Polishing aluminum is about leaving a new surface in smoother form. I've stripped, sanded, polished OEM Thunderbird wheels for two cars, one set had a silver factory epoxy coat, the other set was factory clear coated over just smooth aluminum, not polished. Looked might near like chrome when done. After the surface is polished, easy to maintain, just do not clear coat them. Figure 10 hours a wheel labor, easy.
I understand, I wouldn't want 10s on my '77 either, I thought maybe they were 8" wide. I prefer something like 31/10.5-15, no 50 series tires on it.
If you're going to use 295's then you're going for the street rod look, in the day the wheels everyone doing that used were the Cragar SS , Torque Thrust and the centerlines. Cragar's would be my choice nothing will ever compare for street rigs but the new torque thrust retros would be a close 2nd. .

31/10.5's is what is on the truck now but they were dry rotted when I first got them 5-6 years ago. lol...If the truck was 4wd I'd actually go with 33/12.5s, but I am wanting to try a more street roddish look this go round.

Yeah, what my real thinking is fat meats out back with something still chunky but not so wide up front. I might have found a set of look a like Draglite rims, but again they are 10" all the way around.
