Hello, I have a 94 extended cab f150 2wd 5.0. My ac has really high pressure but when I give it gas the pressure goes down towards normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Low pressure side was around 60-70, high pressure was around 250-300 but was go down when step on gas also took water hoses shot water into front of condenser and pressure would come down.
Yeah I was gonna work on it this weekend cleaning condenser coils, checking fan and check for leaks. One question my truck holds 7oz pag oil, after pulling vacuum how much oil to put back in if any ?
Fan clutch easy to check. See how easy/hard it is to spin cold and let it warm up, then shut it off and see how many rotations the fan spins after shut down.
I checked it cold, it was hard only moved a couple of inches and I did the newspaper trick after starting it and it shredded the end of the newspaper. But I haven't tried it after running it. I do notice at times at idle in park it's barely spinning, but I hear it roaring when at red lights or stop signs when taking off. How many spins at hot ?

The fan sounds as if it's all right. Straighten the fins and clean them well, preferably with the grill out so you can get to it well. That alone will make a big difference if the fins are bent and dirty.
The one on my 01 Expedition sorta worked cold and did not do a damned thing hot...it went round and round, like the song by Ratt. Fresh unit, back to roaring hot like a garbage truck.

barely spinning when idling? Okay well your system isnt gonna move heat out the condensor like that..
I believe that means the system will have higher pressure, and then the ac comp will have to cycle more because either something like the line can freeze and plug up, the pressure just will break something, or the compressor will burn out.before continuing, I vote you need to figure this out first

Depends. If you have a leak and are doing a repair, I always add 2 oz.
Oil charge before pulling it down.
No, he's right, you pull the vacuum first. Then, before you charge, you use the vacuum in the system to draw the oil in. Those pressurized oil charge cans are to add oil without draining the system.
Well I checked my radiator fan this morning after driving to work truck was good and warm and I can actually stop my fan from turning with a styrofoam cup. New fan clutch?
I have never rebuilt a system and added oil with those cans, always add oil before then vac it down. There is a reason manuals tell you to add oil prior to assembly and compressors come preoiled. Never slugged one compressor.
