Ok, I just got finished fixing the PCV valve on my '92 F150 5.8L. NOW, I have another problem. I have TWO lines that are broken, and they look like vacuum lines? It's a red and a yellow line that run along the side of the upper intake manifold area. Anyone got a clue what these are for?
Go to oreillies or similar, buy the hard line thats in a roll from their isle with paint stuff and emissions (dorman help) somewhere its there. grab that, and also would be a good idea to get vacuum caps (same spot)
replace the sections lines where broke first. If you use a pick you can reuse your rubber parts. yours look good.
also your vac fitting looks loose on intake
they sell 3 types of the hard line, i only ended up using 1 size but i bought 2. the other is used but i havent got that far(hard to get that line_)
Not really sure what you mean. I went to O'Reilly's near me and they said they didn't have any of that hard line. That it is a Ford specific line that I would have to get from the dealer. NOT going to do that. Is there anyway that I can just use some type of connector to splice the broken lines together?

Did you look through the store or just go to the counter and ask for it? Cause the exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Went to O’reillys and asked the guy if they had any hard line, he said nope, only Ford used that kinda stuff. I said ok, then went through the aisles and found a 3ft roll of it....unfortunately though it only comes in black. Most parts stores should have it though.
Nope, I did what you did. Asked at the counter. Guess I should have went and looked in the aisles. Do you remember what isle it was you looked through? I looked at their website, and I couldn't find any of the hard plastic line...only the rubber line. Maybe our inventory is different here in NM?
Gates bulk hose is available at Oriellys and similar. I think the vacuum stuff is labeled as PCV/EEC hose. You will need several sizes, but I think the bulk of it is 1/4 or 5/16.
Are the different colors of the hard plastic lines all different sizes? If they are, is it wise to do the same with replacement line? Or is a one-size-fits-all approach appropriate in this case?
I changed all mine when I had the engine out, but it can be done in place if you have a good back! LOL I did this nearly three years ago and smooth sailing so far.

I mean, I guess I didnt speak then... at 3 oreillies i been to, its in the isle with dorman help stuff , autobody paint, and it was next to vacuum t's and it was just below eye line(Im 5'7") on shelf. towards an end.
Its in a square box, hanging, gloss black, and the line is in a circle. I got the same stuff the other guy did. I can show yo uteh box

not always wanting hose tho, hardline is smaller profile and will presumably not be prone to kink. although the stuff I use from oreillies im wondering how long before it becomes brittle or if it stiffens up. it hasnt kinked tho.
and on the question of color coding, since its all black I decided to use electrical tape in the green/red that I replaced to mark the lines to match the VECI. however, you guys seem to have a yellow as well(multi pack vinyl tape would have that)
