The wife and I are expecting #4 this summer, and that creates a problem with our 5 passenger pickup...I am rather fond of the captains chairs and console, but I need to replace it with a 40/20/40 setup. I am having trouble finding the correct interior for my pickup, but am not against going with a later model seat setup. From the things I have seen, the later model Super Duty seats are a direct bolt in, correct?
The other option I have been considering is just finding the "20" seat and swapping it out for the console. I am guessing that would require removing the arm rests from my current seats. I have found a center section out of an 08-10 local to me and am wondering if that could possibly fit with my 02 bucket seats. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Do not have time this evening to give much input. Congrats on number 4!
Hopefully the two links above will help with some ideas. I plan to do some 11-16 front leather at some point, to match the 13 rear leather and center shoulder harness I put in last year. ( I did a small thread, should be findable in my profile somewhere)
Yes, the seats with armrests work. The caveat is that there is a pivot stud (solid 1" steel pin) that needs to be cut off because it hits the center console lid. This leaves a hole in the seat that is only really noticeble from the rear or when the seatback is positioned (reclined) just right.
I have two pickups like this. The regular cab has 2006 Excursion seats that are a but wider in the midsection and since the seats don't move around too much in a regular cab and there's rarely anybody in the non-existent back seat, it's completely unnoticeable.
Did you use the correct age center seat? From what I am seeing, if I get an 08-10 center seat, it will bolt in, just worried about how it fits between the older buckets. I am thinking about eventually getting Carhartt custom fit covers for the front seats, so that will cover the hole from the arm rest.
Dunno about the width of the newer center seat although the mounting holes are identical to the 99-07 vintage (the floors are the same for AT LEAST those years and I've HEARD that the floor pan didn't change much if any through 16). That being said, my center consoles/20% seats are the 02 cup holder models.
