Hi all,
I purchased this 2015 F-150 about 3 years ago. It hit it's 100,000 mile maintenance and I took it to a local mechanic who I've used for decades. In the photo then upper left is the coolant, the middle one is the transmission fluid and the one on the right is the rear differential. The coolant doesn't look too bad to me. But the transmission looks burnt and the diff looks .. rusty (?). Everything has been flushed and refilled. What do you think I should do? Nothing, or sell the beast?
100k maintenance should be done at 50k miles in my opinion. All of those fluids look normal for as old as they are. How does the brake fluid look? It should have been flushed too. And what about the spark plugs?
I like looking for any type of metal shavings. Color does not bother me as much. If you are not having any problems, I certainly would not let this alone lean you towards a different truck.
If the vehicle was running fine and wasn’t giving you any problems before the service and since the vehicle is almost 8 years old, just have the next full service done at 50K as JK mentioned.
No need to get rid of a perfectly fine running truck.
Thanks all for your comments. The truck is running fine, except for a problem with the head unit disconnecting Bluetooth with my phone. I doubt if any of the fluids are to blame for that. The spark plugs didn't look bad, although they were original. The gaps were greater than they should have been. Perhaps worn? I checked the transmission and differential for chips and didn't notice any, or feel any grit between my fingers. I didn't do the brakes ... have to think about that I guess.

I would not expect the original plugs to be serviceable after 100K, and the wide gap is just wear. If you don't have service records, you should most definitely get the brakes checked.
The brake fluid when fresh is a golden amber color. At 50k miles mine was nearly black. A brake fluid flush is something that anyone keeping their truck beyond warranty should do.
