“Raw” WMO as Fuel?

I’ve read about centrifuges, filters, RUG blends etc, and it’s all way above my pay grade in this subject.

I’ve been putting my 6.0 back to work hauling trailers and end up with an oil change every week. Is all of the centrifuge/filtering stuff necessary if I were to just drain the 14qts and add it straight to my 70gal fuel tank? I run a bypass filter and the oil is drained straight to the previous jugs via a valve so the oil should be about as clean as it gets.

the Fumoto valve lets me do oil changes anywhere pretty much with no mess and and I’m usually rolling through towns in the middle of the night with nowhere to discard the oil for weeks till I find a place open.

So how bad is 15qts of oil in 70gallons or say 4qts per 70gal tank? Is all the processing more for unknown oil you’re getting in bulk for other places?

Processing is to remove the contamination from the engine oil.

I think you should be fine. I filter my WMO, but if it were all coming from a source like yours I'd be less concerned, especially since you'll be using a small percentage. I run nearly 100% WMO from mixed sources so it's much more dangerous, I should be using a centrifuge.

In my experience it's fine on older diesels and 3 or 4 gallons is nothing into that large of a tank. It's filtered by the oil filtration system and then again by the engine's fuel filtration system. As long as I knew where it came from and that the empty jugs were clean, it's a convenient way to get rid of it. Have to be a little more careful in the winter time and be sure to add the oil first then top it off with diesel so it mixes up.

Never thought of doing it with my 6.0L trucks, but always did it with my 7.3L and 5.9 12V. I dump just about everything into my 95 7.3L, motor oil, transmission fluid, gear oil, hydraulic oil, and brake fluid. My 5.9L I still use on the road so only motor oil and transmission fluid goes into that tank. I filter it through a diesel fuel filter in a gravity bin over a drum.

Brake fluid scares me so I stay clear of that, but I've burned everything else on that list. Lots of gear oil on a cold day will restrict flow causing a power loss.....so I've heard, I'd never do something dumb like that :-)

Im sure the brake fluid will shorten the life of the fuel system components, and thats why I dont mix it in the trucks im still using on the road. Probably a good 20-25k miles on the old 7.3L farm trucks I mix it in. No issues so far and I run plenty of brake fluid, owning a fleet service garage.

I have used WMO in my Kubota B2410. I ran it through a pair of filters, a 10 micron followed by a 2 micron, then blended it 50/50 with the recommended powerservice additive mix. It ran hotter than with regular diesel, but also had much more power. The little 3 banger normally runs a hair off the peg, but was up an eight above the peg in temps, so I believe that the mix had more BTU per injection than with just plain ol diesel.

I never tried it in the 7.3 though, so don't know how it would run.

I run hydraulic oil, used motor oil, transmission fluid and blend it with gasoline. I also have diesel mixed in depending on my supply. I filter it a few times min through a 2 micron filter. Runs really good.

I wouldn’t be scared to dump a oil change strait into the fuel tank.
