cam research only grinds ford cams.i want to order a cam from them. but i want to see if any had heard and used camresearch cams before www.camresearch.com
There are some guys on another board that run these cams in their FEs. I haven't heard anything but god things about them. I am going to order a cam from www.lazercams.com as they also get good reviews.
What are the prices on the camshafts from either camresearchcorp.com or lazercams.com. I would like a price on custom and off the shelf if it is known to either on of you. I never heard of breaking in a cam at the factory but that does sound like a good idea $60 to do it though does sound kinda high maybe not too expensive if it saves an engine from having to rebuilt though. Let me know
On a side note I know there is a huge following from the mustang crowd on the www.cammotion.com cams later
Lazer Cams quoted me $165 for the cam and $95 for the lifters. This is for an FE thoguh. I imagine that the small block cam will be cheaper. I would recommend having them break in the cam if you were running high spring pressures but for a mild build it is a waste if you know how to do it properly.
I am running a camresearch custom grind on my 5.8 and my 342 stroker engine on my 69 mustang.
The break in at the site is a plus because it is less metal shavings your engine has to digest and the rest of the lifters, roller rockers etc are spared extra wear....
it is worth the extra money.
The truck hauls @ss and it passed smog with flying colors...
The Mustang is smog exempt, but the motor is putting out 400 ft lbs of torque and over 440hp.
