The last time I changed my fuel filter I opened the drain valve to let some fuel out of the filter housing. Ever since I get fuel leeking from the tube when it`s cold at start up. Anybody ever had this problem?
I took the water separater and cleaned it and it stopped the leak but i still get the fuel fumes inside the truck thru the AC....What now? Replace the fuel cannister o rings? Please help me ....any one
If you used one of the filters with the built in lid, they are apperently know to have seal issues. If so hope you kept your stock filer housing lid. Cann't remember the brand but there's one in my truck and yes I kept the stock lid and will never buy one of these again.
I did use one of the new filters w/built in seal/lid. but thats not whats leaking. It`s coming from the little plastic valve you use to drain filter housing. It seems to only do it at start up and only when it`s cold ( 20-30 F).It leaks when I start it and quits when engine temp.comes up.
Thanks for the info...Will see where I can find the original? Maybe the dealer ? or on the net?. Sure hope this gets rid of the smell. Got to go to dall this week end...and I will be in trouble with the better half if its not fixed...go ford
Just a thought on fuel odor in the cab, if one of the vent/presure flaps on the back of your cab is stuck open you may get some unwanted odors, they sure get your cab dusty on logging roads if one is open.
i had that problem. took it out and found the O ring had came off and that the lid was not seated properly. once i fixed that ive had no more smell or problems.
