6-Speed Downshift

Accelerating from stop up from 1st thru 6th during normal acceleration/driving speeds (in 6th by ~40/45 mph) and then slow coasting (or light braking) I noticed when it comes down to 3rd (25/30 mph) it will stay in 3rd all the way down to 5 mph or less then jumps right to 1st slightly prior to or near stop.
Problem i notice is that when i'm creeping along in traffic at above that 5 mph threshold it holds in 3rd and almost seems like it is bogging down or lagging a bit.
Manually shifting and keeping at 1st or 2nd at this speed and it reacts fine. No real difference in Eco mode either..
Anyone else experience this or is this just the nature of this tranny?
~1500 miles on the truck.

I have watched mine shift all the way down through the gears. Have not felt it bog down either.

Do you see it go from 3rd to 2nd ?

I would like to think it would be in at least 2nd gear at or less than 5mph.
Bogging only seems to happen when I hold it at that 3rd gear point at 5 mph or slightly above.

It is an automatic transmission. It will not allow you to lug the engine. It will downshift when you apply enough throttle to require it. Seems like you are really over thinking this. Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Mine does the same, mainly noticed in parking lots. A light bucking when chugging along in 3rd, never hits 2nd, just drops to 1st if you get slow enough. Doesn’t always do it though…always shifts the same, but doesn’t always buck. Anyway, nothing profound to add other than it seems to be normal, and I’ve quit worrying about it.

Yes sounds like the same scenario. Was just curious if it was just inherently somewhat normal characteristics.
I'm sure i'll get a bit more use to it.Just seems a bit annoying in stop and go traffic.

Normal behavior, they are great transmissions very reliable.
