I'm replacing the front coils on my '85 F150 4wd and l need to buy (at least) a couple of sockets.
The bottom spring retainer bolt measures 1.11 inches on my digital caliper.
Upper ball joint nut measures 1.31 inches.
Given that rust and crud may have thrown off my measurements by .01 inches, even the Google -machine can't seem to come up with a usable socket size... any ideas?
1-1/8in for the spring bolt and I think it's the same for the ball joint nut but if it's been changed it could have a different size nut than stock.
I thought it was 1 1/8" on the spring bolt, but l couldn't get my socket to fit. Maybe it wasn't deep enough... l was pretty tired by the time l got around to messing w it. I'll try again, thanks.
ETA; played around w it some more this morning and I'm pretty sure the ball joint castle nut is 1 5/16".
Looks like I'm making a trip to Hobo Freight... biggest socket l have is 1 1/4".
