BFG A/T Pressure Question

Just installed my new BFG 285/75/16's and love them so far. Great in the rain and great on the road. Decided to tackle the field i got stuck in two weeks ago with the Firestones. I aired down to 35 lbs all the way around and went right through the field in 4 wheel. Got brave and took it out of four wheel and it still flew through the field. It's a little bit colder than it was the night i got stuck and it stopped raining yesterday. It was raining the night I got stuck. I was shooting all kinds of mud and grass out the back of the truck. I actually had fun this time!

My question is what pressures I should run for different circumstances.

I'm happy with 50lbs all the way around for highway driving.

Mud? 35lbs like I had today? seemed to work well. Can i go lower without damaging the tires?

Sand? lower than 35lbs?

Snow? 35-40lbs?

I wouldn't care about dropping the pressures in a lighter truck but the X weighs so much i wants to get some advice.

Thanks!

King Ranch,

Is it bad to run lower pressures? Or is that just your preference?

Thanks!

I keep mine (BFG 285s) at 55psi fronts and 65psi rear. BFG's max rating for these tires is 65psi.

In the winter I air them all down to 45psi for better snow traction because I don't do any towing in the winter months.

I've got 295's, and running unloaded on the street, I'm at 45 front, and 40 rear. I do this so the whole tread can contact the road. In sand I've gone down to 20 and didn't even have to shift into 4wd. For mud, I usually leave the tires the same as the street pressure, unless it's really bad, then I'll drop to 30.

I have the same size as Munkey, and I also run 45psi front and 40 psi rear unloaded.
