I have a 77 F350 with a carbureted 460 and a C6 transmission. I would like to know if I can replace that transmission with another C6 out of an 88 F350 with a fuel injected 460. I just don't know if there is any electrical/computer type issues with the 88 transmission.
There should not be any issues.
it is a vacuum controlled transmission.
so no electronics, 460 to 460 so no issues there.
should be a drop in replacement.
Ya I didn't think to mention it is 2WD, I'm new to the forum and appreciate you help, I will try to be more specific in future posts. I will be doing the swap later next week.
You might want to change the front seal in the "new" transmission. And also the filter. Maybe also drop the trans pan first on the old one to see if there are any metallic particles that might have been floating around. Or just play it safe and flush out the cooler lines before hooking to the new trans.
