To get my 2022 F350 truck built I skipped the hitch prep package. Now looking to add a B&W companion hitch and looking to see what wiring harness you all have used. Did you go with Ford OEM or an aftermarket like Curt? Does either style plug into the wiring harness at the bumper? OR is there extra plugs on the frame. I saw a couple sets of plugs capped off on the frame but haven't found what they are for. Thanks
The wiring comes with the Ford prep kit. Not the B&W so that's an extra cost if you want. The Ford ships free to a dealer near you and you can add $250 to have them install it.
Measure the diameter of the plug body, usually 2 or 2.25 inches. Order a metal cutting hole saw on Amazon, about $18. Installing the plug is about a 15 minutes job.
This one will plug in at the 2 plugs on the hitch. Since I was using a 7/12 plug with the camera kit, I only used the harness and I tossed the 7way.
Also,, fwiw you can go on a dismantler site like www.car-part.com and get a factory ford hitch plate for about 2 to 300 shipped to your door. You'll have to remove the bed, but you'll have a factory hitch that IMO is a much better setup that has a higher rating than a b and w..
