EFI or Not
I came to the conclusion that a Holley or other type of EFI on my 360, for routine driving may help the cold start but as far as performance goes - decided not to spend the money and stick with my 600 CFM Edelbrock 4bbl.
I watched a program comparing a Carb to an EFI - and the conclusion came back that for the average guy the performance is not appreciable. Maybe cold starting and playing with the choke with my carb set up is annoying - - or after sitting - cranking and cranking to get the fuel to the pump and to the carb may be problematic with the carb...and a temporary annoyance - but it is what is.
But the dyno tests for hp, torque, fuel delivery and other parameters were so close to an EFI that I can live with a cold start. They noted that the time to dial in the EFI took hours, but dialing in a carb or adjusting jets etc took much much less time.
The other conclusion was that each has their place - but me being an average or more like a less than average guy for day to day applications, driving to get groceries, visiting a friend, or driving to show the $60,000.00 truck owners that I can get to the same place in the same amount of time with a $6,000.00 truck is fine with carburetor technology that actually works just great.
