Last night I had my truck out for about 5 minute trip. Parked it, locked it, and about 30 minutes later the alarm started going off. I hit the remote button to stop it and then went outside to see if I'd left a door open or something like that since I don't know why the alarm went off. I checked all the doors that they were fully closed, opened the drivers door and shut it and locked it. I went back in and noticed that the dome light was not going off. I went back out and had to start the truck and it told me that the drivers side rear door was ajar. I had not had this door open, and it was closed. I opened and closed it and the notification went off and the dome light went off after I locked the truck back up.
Any ideas on what caused that and the alarm to go off?
Haha.
The door wasn't actually ajar though. I'd just been for a ride in it and hadn't opened that door, and even checked before (without opening) that is was closed. Flush with body and I pushed on it.
Interestingly, today my truck was blaring the horn out in the driveway for no discernable cause. Couldn't seem to get it to quit using the key fob. Had to crank it to make it stop. After that everything was back to normal. Didn't observe any wildlife in the cab.
Mine has been doing this too, it is the hood ajar switch. It will go off randomly while going down the road as well. Unfortunately the switch is built into the latch, there are only 2 rivets and it looks like standard limit switch so i might drill it out and pull a part number off it. I will let you know what i find if you're looking for a cheap fix.
Just for reference, my supercab gives me a door ajar alert quite often after I use the rear doors. I have to open and close them a second time (a little harder closing pressure) to stop the alert. I have to think the
sensor is too sensitive. So far, no front door ajar alerts after closing the front doors.
Mine did this recently and I was able to pull the last 4 alarm events with forscan. There it showed the hood latch was the cause of the alarm. Fast and easy to do with precise cause for alarm going off.
I have the FordPass app and it indicates what triggered the alarm. Had this happen last weekend - I left the back window open for ventilation and the alarm went off. I got a notification on the app and it indicated the intrusion detected (or something like that). I also had random hood sensor alarms, usually at the worst hours - 1-3 AM. The location of the sensor is up front with the hood release mechanism, so it's somewhat exposed to the weather. I sprayed it with WD40 figuring I'd use it for its intended purpose - get rid of the water -and that has been good for a while now.
