Do any of you have a source for info on rebuilding my shifter?
My shifter will rotate but will not pivot I less the two bolts that hold the assembly to the tube are out or loose. I took the column out of the truck today but can't figure out how to take it apart any further. I'll be honest, I've never even driven an 'on the tree' vehicle so I definitely don't know how the shift levers are supposed to move when the shifter is manipulated either.
Have you considered getting a shop manual? There is a fair amount covering the shifting linkage. A three speed is shifted in sort of an "H", pattern. Reverse being all the way up and toward the steering wheel and then straight down and still toward the steering wheel for 1st. 2nd is all the way up and toward the floor and 3rd is all the way down and toward the floor. When these linkages wear, it gets harder to go from 1st to 2nd. They sort of have a personality, be patient and they can be fun!
Here's a link for a reprint shop manual but there are originals out there. Also, there are digital copies.

I'd love to get a shop manual. Your link didn't work though can you send me that again or direct me to a good source for one?
