I have an 1988 F250 7.5 460. When I rebuilt the engine I had a bear of a time getting the exhaust manifold off. Several broken bolts trying all the tricks. A friend said they were bad to take off and tended to warp. Well that is past. I am having a rough time sealing them. Probably warped. Not sure if I want to do new cast manifolds or go to headers. If I do headers I want good Stainless. I live in the salt and rust belt so steel ones will not hold up.
Now that I am thinking about it. I could take the manifolds off and mill them flat. ??? I have access to a mill to give them a try.
You guys probably know... a 460 truck and 460 car have different exhaust ports/heads. I picked up a nice set of copper gaskets. They did not fit. They should have made a nice seal.
Ideas? Anyone know of a good place to get reasonable priced headers?? or manifolds?
L&L Products in Rowlett, TX sells some 460 headers that appear to be great quality. I've used their flywheel/clutch kit for a 460 swap and completely satisfied.
It's really easy to resurface a manifold. Cut an old belt sander belt so it can lay flat and then glue it onto a flat surface (table saw, granite countertop, etc) and drag the manifold back and forth over it while applying downward pressure until it's flat.
The cheapo stainless headers you can buy online are of fine quality if you choose to go that route. I've installed them on a wide variety of vehicles.

When I rebuilt my 1994, 460, I installed banks headers. Tad pricey, but, billed as stainless steel. Nice thick mounting flange. 2 years and no issues. And I had the same issue with broken studs. Had the heads rebuilt, and broken studs removed. Really happy with the Banks setup. But, I also rebuilt the entire motor.
