Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a set of headers for a '90 F250 w/ a 460 other than Thorley? I'm sure they're nice units, but somehow $700 seems to be a bit overpriced. Any help would be appreciated.
If you have a automatic your in luck...Headman makes headers for around $100. Call either "Jegs"
1-(800)345-4545 or "Summit Racing" 1(800)230-3030
I have these on my truck and seem to be working fine. I did have to double gasket one side to get it to seal since the header flanges are only 3/8 inch thick, but have put on a few thousand miles with no problems. (I tried copper gaskets but found double gasketing to work better in my case).
It depends where you are located.(If you dont have to deal with Californias emmision controls, most of the major manufactureres have a header for the 460.If your registering in cal. then the only manufacturers that I know of are, Doug Thorley, and Gale Banks. They are also the only ones I would consider installing if you are looking for real performance improvements. If you have ever installed a set of headers on the 460,youll find its not something that you want to have to repeat to often,(mine took about 8 hours). The Thorleys fit perfect and are triple chromed they have a 3/8" flange, and have not leaked at all in about 6 months of hard core Mud Boggin, and wheelin,I have not even had to re-tighten the bolts. I have gone down the bargain basement header road in the past, and always with disapointing results, either in performance or quality.I would replace with stock exhaust manifolds before installing cheap headers."Just my opinion"

I'm running Heddman headers on my 460, and like Jeff said, there a pain to get in (although I got mine installed in a record breaking three hours. Go speed racer!). It's a lot easier unbolting the engine mount bolts and jacking it up a few inches to get a little clearance, and then you have to do a juggleing act with the headers and starter. After two months, mine are covered in rust, and I haven't even taken them off road. If you get headers, get them coated or plated no matter what. Mine are (were) painted, and I'm already dreading the day mine rust through and I have to replace them.
